1. I chose Buddhism and Hinduism because I was curious on what the difference was.
2. For Buddhism it is interesting that this began with 1 man medictating under a tree, Piedmont tree. It does seem peaceful and the temples that were built are similar to our churches, we have images of Jesus and Mother Mary and they have sculptures of Budda. Their are 2 groups of worshipers the hinayana and Mahanyana,(Monks) To my understanding the Stupa rose from flat ground and Borobudur Temple out of Lava Rock. I was impressed to learn that in Carmel, NY has biggest temple in Western Hemishpere. Buddhism is very kind to creatures.
Hinduism seems more mysterious maybe because it has no real founder and teaches many ways to their God/Brahma. It is strange that this religion is worshiped on the banks of Ganges water and people come there for life and death. Temples do not seem to be as important as in Buddism. All the bodies are burned at the banks for their belief is the spirit will go in flames and spread for life after death, very interesting. Hinduism and the many Gods are symbols to their ways.Hinduism carries within it a deep sense of spiritual in the ordinary and the Source of all life is Brahma, cycle of reincarnation.(video) Again this is very peaceful approach to life and death.
3. The explaination for these religions is similar to the text, but the videos are able to show in better pictures the architecture of temples and the various designs and magnitude that these structures carry.
4. Of course it is always interesting to watching the films than just readings for me visualizing helps to understand better or get a clearer picture of the era we are learning about.
