Module 5

1. The two pieces of artwork that made an impression on me was the first one I downloaded called Card Player by Roberto Matt 1957.  It is a sharp looking contemporary piece with a very cool look. The second one is called Carcus of Beef,1925 by Chaim Soutine.  This one is the last one I downloaded and honestly is frightening looking and for the life of me I can't see why this is called art.
2. The artworks I felt a connection with are Juan Gis LeCarigae 1921. It has all my favorite colors and looks warm and inviting. This is the 3rd painting I downloaded, this is actually something I would hang in my own home. The other artwork would be Larry Rivers The Final Veteran 1960.  It is very american with all the red white and blue colors, and also represents the soldiers who have and still are fighting for us.
3. I would like to know more about the artwork called Fireworks 1887 by James Ensor. It is interesting with all the fall colors and actually looks like a tree at its peak in fall time.  i wonder if that is what the artist was comparing it to. James Rosenquist Nomad 1963,is the other artwork that is not only cool but reminds me of retro times and would belong in a diner or would be a good sign for a diner.

Module4

1.  Creating the value scale and the colorwheel was interesting.  I enjoyed painting the color wheel and seeing the colors appear when I mixed them, it is pretty incredible.  The value scale was neat as I went on the side of the pencil and created the charcoal effect.

2.  I enjoyed working with the color wheel more probably because  it was a little more work involved with the bright different colors.

3.  The most important discoveries in the creation of these studies and I would presume your talking about the colorwheel and value scale is discovering all the ending results, one is how you can hold apencil at a different angle to get the effect on the value scale and the other is how many different colors can come from mixing a primary and secondary color.

4.  The video on making the prints and the different raising that is used to give a final effect was interesting, and important for the artists to basically make copies, or for making books etc.

Photobcket Journal

While learning the details of art and how many categories and elements you learn about I have found to be  interesting.  Even though I am not an art major I am finding out how to view art in a different way. When looking at art and taking pictures that I took I was looking for elements.
I tried to make sure that when viewing and taking the pictures that each one had at least one element, some have more than two.  It wasn't hard because almost everything we look at whether it is an actual piece of art or a sculpture or a picture, even nature they all have some element and design.

Answers to module 3

1. Color is what we preceive as it is reflected light rays.  There are many categories to color, such as primary which is red, yellow and blue. There is secondary like orange, green, and violet, these are made when combining two primary colors.  Color has an effect on our emotion for instance when you see bright, vibrant colors you may feel happier, when you see dark, you may feel sad, even moody.  Your expression as an artist becomes ALIVE with colors that are chosen.
2. Theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates me would be how it all comes together, you have many angles, lighting props, music.  This all is before us to view and hear and this makes the stage presence for us to see. It is also said it is the most powerful artistic element and hardest to control.
3.  I think the color video made me realize the amazingness of it in itself.  I was impressed on how color was first put on plaster and it was absorbed into wet plaster and as it dried it becomes color.  The emotions of color are very important it may be the artist's mood at moment of using it, for example Mark Ruthko used very dark, bold colors he wanted people to feel dark mood even anger when looking at the room. Your emotion when looking at bright nice colors would be opposite, it would be uplifting.
4.  Super natural world of religion. and how people took it so seriously.  That the pictures are depicted bye good and bad.  Although most of the art from 18th century art is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, it seems that when you look at the angels and christians it gives you a good feeling of emotion.  When you are viewing the negative side of humans it is symbolizing the bad part of humans, you can feel the disturbing part they are portraying.
